Senior AI researcher - VLA and motion planning

We strive to make robotic manipulation accessible to anyone. By utilizing state-of-the-art generative AI in combination with safe robotic hardware, we want to make autonomous manipulation in human environments a reality. In this role, you will enable robots to autonomously generate actions from prior demonstrations and voice commanded inputs. These processes may also incorporate responses to natural language commands, further advancing the robot's skills. We are seeking an expert in imitation learning and generative AI techniques (VLA) that directly produce robot behaviors, along with a deep knowledge of both supervised and self-supervised learning algorithms. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of AI and eager to deliver innovative solutions, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of intelligent robotics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration of the software stack for the robot, including simulation and real-world hardware
  • Collaborate with the Embedded Systems team to ensure proper interfacing between platform software and hardware drivers.
  • Implement deployment-ready code for the real robot, optimized for the robot’s computational constraints.
  • Lead the development of demonstrations and robot deployment algorithms
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate platform performance, reliability, and safety. Conduct platform-level testing, including simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and real-world scenarios.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Field Engineering team for platform deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Provide expert guidance to product managers and executives for strategic decision-making.
  •  Create and maintain documentation, guidelines, and best practices to streamline knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Automotive, or a similar discipline or a minimum of five years of industry with research experience.
  • Strong background in robotic manipulation, with expertise across the full stack—encompassing sensors, perception, mapping, localization, navigation, control, and deep learning algorithms.
  • Experience with distributed systems, embedded computing and cloud infrastructure.
  • Ability to identify and prototype algorithms.
  • Experience with ROS2 (Robot Operating System).

Join us in reinventing how robots can integrated into our society through innovative soft robotic solutions. If you are a motivated person, with a passion for tech, and willing to show your potential and eager to grow within a fast paced robotics startup, we would love to hear from you. If you are not sure if you fulfill the requirements, give it a try.

About Us:

Embodied AI is a cutting-edge robotics startup dedicated to revolutionizing the robotic manipulation industry. So far we raised over CHF 1M in non-dilutive funding and we are just about to expand thanks to an upcoming ambitious pre-seed round. So far,  we worked in semi-stealth mode, and we received interest from global leading institutions such as NASA, Amazon, Nestlé, Grivix and more. Our job is now to serve these customers. Our advanced safe manipulator has already been deployed at MIT, and we are about to start commercializing to leading academic institutions.

Embodied AI is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

We encourage you to apply before March 1st
